Clive Standen

Clive Standen sits down with me to talk about his role on the new hit NBC show, The Council of Dads. The show centers around Scott Perry and when discovers he has cancer he is worried about his children growing up without his help and advice. He and his wife Robin recruit six friends to act as a “council of dads” to be father figures to his children. Clive plays Anthony Lavelle on the show. Clive opens up about the audition process and why he cried while reading the script.

We also talk about fatherhood and the impact of not growing up with a father and making sure he is there for his kids. He shares the values he looks to instill into his kids and shares advice for new dads. We finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five.

Eric Byrnes

Former MLB player, Eric Byrnes sits down with me to talk about fatherhood, his first day playing in the MLB and why he did a triathlon across the United States. Eric has an all in mentality. He lives by that code everyday. During my conversation with Eric I could see the passion he has to empower and inspire everyday play for kids through his The Let Them Play Foundation. I learned the lessons he received from his parents and the values he looks to instill into his kids. We also talk about his book, The F*It List: Life Lessons from a Human Crash Test Dummy. We finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five.

Kevin Negandhi

ESPN SportsCenter anchor, Kevin Negandhi sits down with me to chat about fatherhood, working at ESPN and his memorable trip to Super Bowl LII. If you are like me, SportsCenter is must watch TV. So getting to learn about Kevin’s experience at ESPN was very interesting. As a Communications major I really appreciated his stories of working his way up from college internships to working at ESPN. Kevin and I also spoke about fatherhood and how he always wanted to be a dad. He shares what he learned from his parents and the values he looks to instill into his kids as they grow up. Kevin has a fantastic view on fatherhood and I enjoyed our conversation on that topic. Kevin then shares with me his amazing and unforgettable story of his trip to Super Bowl LII. The story feels like it should be turned into a movie. We finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five.

Brandon Copeland

Brandon Copeland is a Renaissance man. Not only is playing football on the highest level in the NFL, but there is much more to him than that. Brandon and his wife, Taylor operate two real estate companies and a nonprofit organization called Beyond the Basics Inc. Plus Brandon is a professor of a financial literacy course which he has called “Life 101” at the University of Pennsylvania.

Brandon teamed up with Capital One for a Mind Over Money Study that helps people understand their finances better. Brandon and I got to chat about that study, playing in the NFL and fatherhood. Brandon and Taylor are blessed with a son and from my interview with him Brandon looks to share his own life experiences with his son as well as leave him with legacy his son would be proud of. We finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five.

I want to thank Capital One for setting up time with Brandon. To learn more on the Mind Over Money Study click here!
